Welcome.
Here you will find no mountaintops, no polished stages, and no promises of secret knowledge or spiritual shortcuts.
Here, there is bread cooling in the kitchen, mud clinging to a pair of boots by the back step, a kettle beginning to whistle, and a peaceful vineyard asking to be cherished. Here you will find the quiet rhythm of work done with love. Not merely my work, but the Father’s work woven into the ordinary rhythms of creation.
This is where I have found God most often: the ordinary, everyday things that somehow always belong to a much bigger story.
Welcome to the ordinary.
Welcome to the holy ordinary.
—
For much of my life, I believed I would encounter God primarily in extraordinary moments.
I looked for Him in revival services, mission trips, mountaintop experiences, miraculous stories, and theological breakthroughs. Those moments have their place. They have shaped me in countless ways. Yet the longer I have walked with Christ, the more I have realized that He seems remarkably comfortable showing up in places I once overlooked.
He is present in gardens before He is found in kingdoms.
He is present around tables before pulpits.
He is present in the breaking of bread before the building of institutions.
Perhaps that should not surprise us. Scripture begins in a garden, lingers beside wells and vineyards, walks dusty roads, shares countless meals, and concludes with the healing of creation itself. God has always seemed content to reveal eternal truths through ordinary things.
Bread.
Water.
Seeds.
Sheep.
Wine.
Light.
Dust.
None of these are accidental. Creation has always been speaking.
Somewhere along the way, many of us became convinced that holiness only exists where life becomes spectacular. We learned to overlook Tuesday afternoons while longing for spiritual fireworks. We became so eager to escape the ordinary that we forgot it was the very place Christ chose to spend most of His earthly life.
The Son of God spent far more years building tables than preaching from them.
That thought refuses to leave me.
This little corner of the internet is my attempt to slow down long enough to notice what I have so often rushed past.
Here you’ll find reflections on Scripture, theology, bread, vineyards, photography, forgotten churches, old cast iron, muddy boots, quiet mornings, and the countless ordinary places where grace has been waiting all along. Some posts may read like essays. Others may feel like prayers. Some may simply be observations from a kitchen table or a walk through the woods.
All of them are searching for the same thing.
Not an escape from ordinary life, but a deeper awareness that God has never abandoned it.
If these words encourage you to pause before your morning coffee, to notice the beauty of honest work, to recognize the sacredness of your own table, or to see Christ a little more clearly in the life you already have, then this space will have accomplished its purpose.
Thank you for stopping by.
May you find, as I have, that the ordinary has never truly been ordinary at all.
